Aberdeen to transition into carbon capture and renewable energy hub
Not only is oil running out off the shores of Aberdeen but it is also falling out of favour with the public and ministers.
The Scottish Government is now working on what some may call a re-branding of the city of Aberdeen. Known for years as the oil capital of Scotland it is essential that Aberdeen is now reposition in the eyes of the world as being a knowledge hub for renewable energy and carbon capture.
The offshore energy market is one which is growing rapidly and Scotland is very well placed to exploit this and be a key player in the market.
Initiatives are underway to investigage the possibility Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) by filling North sea oilfields with carbon dioxide.
Given the decades of energy experience that Aberdeen has coupled with the enviable opportunities of renewable energy from wind and waves sources, Aberdeen is very well positioned at the moment. All that is required now is a clear and documented initiative from the Government and Industry players to ensure that Scotland is on the global map of renewable energy capitals.

We have a vision that Scotland can be a global pioneer in the Cleantech and Renewable Energy industry.
A key way to support this is to build a community, a hub, where those with common interests and expertise can collaborate freely. Cleantech Scotland will be this hub.
